Your hospice needs you!

Without the commitment, skill and energy of our volunteers there would be no St Luke’s Hospice, as we know it. And thousands of patients and their families, stretching back over two decades, would not have received the same care, comfort and help in their time of crisis.

Each and every one of our volunteers is a special person and, obviously, the more special people we have working with us the more we can help those stricken with life-threatening illnesses.

You really can make all the difference

You don’t need previous experience or any special skills. If you’re between 16 and 75+ and can spare a few hours on a regular basis every week, you can be a volunteer. We’ll give you support and training wherever necessary and you’ll soon be making a difference to the lives of others, by contributing to the running of the hospice.

In return you’ll have the satisfaction of helping; of being part of a caring team, learning new skills, gaining experience, participating in training sessions and putting something back into the community. There is no more worthwhile experience.

Here's a list of ways you could help

  • Work in the Day Hospice
  • Drive patients to and fro
  • Work in the In-patient Unit in a nursing or non-nursing capacity
  • Take reception
  • Help out in a charity shop
  • Join the Family Support Team counselling and supporting family members
  • Assume an Administration/clerical role
  • Go gardening
  • Join a Hospice Support Group
